Brian Thomas Jr has the ideal build for an NFL wide receiver at 6'4", 205 lbs, with the slender physique I appreciate for a potential franchise No. 1. He's a very good athlete for his size, explosive with excellent start-and-go ability, and his speed is also very good for his size, though he could use a bit more decisive and consistent acceleration.
Again, for his physique, Thomas Jr is super fluid with excellent body control. His footwork is quality, and he possesses good quickness, though BTJ is more of a "fluid mover."
He's powerful, but there's room to gain a bit more muscle mass to become more dominant while maintaining his athleticism.

Thanks to his footwork, Brian has a nice range of releases, but against press coverage, he still has work to do in his separation because he needs to improve in using his arms and strength to develop his speed.
He needs to progress in technique to break effectively and in the fluidity of his hips, but the potential is definitely there, and I've observed more than I thought I would in this area.

Against off-man his ability to stack (Stacking is an excellent way to help slower receivers gain vertical advantage on the field. Once the receiver has managed to stack the defender, he controls the situation) is already very good, allowing him to create a lot of separation thanks to his speed.
He already manages changes in direction well, and fake shoulder or head movements, but he still needs to progress in execution aggressiveness and upper body flexibility to make them more incisive.

At the moment, his curls and go routes are what he does best, I like what is hinted at with some cross routes, but I would have liked to see a bit more.

BTJ's ball skills are impressive. He has excellent ball tracking, terrifying hand/foot/eye coordination for his size, very good and solid hands even if there are a few drops due to lack of concentration. His catch radius is interesting, and he knows how to attack the ball at the highest point of the catch, but he still lacks a bit of aggressiveness in this area.

BTJ is a legitimate threat with the ball in his hands, his athletic qualities combined with a transition from receiver to runner and terrifying changes of direction for his size mean he is capable of gaining yards after the catch if the opportunity arises. His changes of direction are quite crazy for a receiver of his size, and we can also foresee use in plays like jet sweeps for him.

The trait I like the most about him is his constant effort; he always gives 100%.

Brian Thomas Jr. is a highly underrated prospect because he's in the shadow of Malik Nabers, but he could potentially be the future No.1 of an NFL franchise if he manages to develop a significant route tree and refine certain points. I see him hardly becoming worse than a very good No.2 in the NFL.
Considering his young age (21 years) and the athletic qualities he possesses relative to his elite size for the position, I wouldn't be surprised if a team takes a chance on him in the first round to develop him.
BTJ does not have a lot of hype at the time of writing this scouting report, but when the combine comes around, watch out...
I evaluate Brian Thomas Jr. as a prospect whose value lies between the end of the first round and the beginning of the second.
